Review: Digital Religion(s) Conference 2022

URPP conference, 16-21 October 2022, Congressi Stefano Franscini (CSF), Monte Verità

Under the theme Dynamics and impacts of digitality in religious communication and interaction practice the URPP Digital Religion(s) and international experts came together to discuss emerging topics, emerging methodologies, and emerging projects in digital religion research and to explore the next steps in digital theology and religion studies.

The participatory and exploratory format of the conference included workshops, group work, creative methods, as well as paper presentations and panel discussions.

Interactive formats and exchange groups

In addition to lectures and paper presentations the conference included participatory formats such as a “Dialogue Walk” to talk about cross-cutting topics, and workshops about media and religion, digital Theology, and text technology. Early career researchers, project leaders, and advisory board members had the opportunity to meet in their groups and work on relevant topics.

Monte Verità and scenery

The CSF conference center is idyllically located on the historical Monte Verità above Lago Maggiore (Ticino, CH). On these warm autumn days it was possible to enjoy the workshops on the terrace, the Dialogue Walk and the excursion to the botanical garden on Isole di Brissago.
