Innovation Project: Theology On Demand
Theology on Demand is an innovation project funded by the UZH Teaching Fund (ULF) and develops a new format for theological and religious learning: a digital, asynchronous learning pathway on Digital Religion & Theology.
The project responds to a post-digital educational culture in which learning must become more flexible, more participatory, and more closely attuned to different life realities. Students should be able to engage with the content independently of time and place, at their own pace, and in a format that takes different learning styles and needs seriously.
This is not simply about a single course. Theology on Demand serves as a model for how theological higher education can be further developed through digital learning pathways, interactive elements, and AI-supported spaces for reflection.
The learning pathway is being developed through a participatory process together with students, researchers, and teachers. Their perspectives flow directly into the design, testing, and evaluation of the project. In this way, Theology on Demand becomes a blueprint for future-oriented, low-barrier, and sustainably transformed teaching – in theology and beyond.
