Congratulations: Digital Religion Research Award
The Network for New Media, Religion & Digital Culture Studies (NNMDC) is pleased to announce the winner of the 2025 Digital Religion Research Award, Dr. Kathrin Trattner, a postdoctoral researcher in the URPP Digital Religion(s) project at the University of Zurich. The Digital Religion Research Award recognizes outstanding and innovative scholars working in the field of Digital Religion studies. Dr Trattner’s award-winning article — Between Feminist Solidarity and “Bible-Verse-Throwers”: Catholic Feminist Activists on Social Media and Experiences of Agency— was published in the Journal of Media, Religion and Digital Culture in 2024, and explores the perceived agency of Catholic feminist activists on social media.
Her award talk is entitled From Agency to Algorithms and Back Again: Changing Forms of Feminist Activism Against Conservative Christian Gender Norms on Social Media, and will take place on July 2, 2026, at the University of Sapenzia in Rome, Italy. The event is held from 4 pm to 5:30 pm in the Frugoni Room on the third floor of the Faculty of Letters building, on the campus of the University of Sapenzia, with a reception to follow.
