Review: Digital Religion(s) Writing Retreat 2025
From July 23–27, members of the URPP “Digital Religion(s)” gathered at the Mattli Antoniushaus in Morschach for our first-ever Writing Retreat — and based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback, certainly not the last.
The retreat was open in format, with no fixed schedule, allowing participants to write at their own rhythm — whether working on dissertations, papers, or other research. This flexibility created a contemplative space that many found both refreshing and productive.
A writing workshop with Paschal Maher introduced useful techniques, including the Pomodoro method and other structured writing formats, which participants found especially helpful for their own writing processes. The input from the writing coach was widely appreciated and added structure without pressure.
The beautiful location above Lake Lucerne, combined with a relaxed program — from yoga sessions to short hikes and lake swims — offered balance, inspiration, and a strong sense of community.
It was not only a time for focused work, but also a moment of team building, shared reflection, and creative exchange.
