Cluster C investigates the important field of (inter-)religious education in the post-digital culture. This field has so far been rarely or only slightly illuminated and explored in the research on digitality. Therefore, there is little knowledge about educational aspects in digital religious practice.
What does such educational practice look like? What are the challenges for students, teachers, decision makers and stakeholders? What are appropriate strategies for addressing these challenges, be it in formal or non-formal educational settings? And what are the implications for stakeholders, especially regarding policy implications?
Cluster C addresses these and other questions through interdisciplinary collaboration between the four individual projects. In doing so, the critical aspect of the concept of post-digitality is also examined and considered, along with the question of how religious education in the digital can also have implications for civil society. There is great potential in joint field research and the integration of qualitative and quantitative approaches, shared data resources and possible methodological innovations – such as citizen science and the use of large language models in data analysis. The cluster aims to contribute evidence-based recommendations and proven practices to the discourse on religious education in the post-digital age. Furthermore, a framework should be developed to inform digital religious education at different education levels.
